Broken glass cuts and its shards go into the flesh causing pain. Beautiful things can break and beauty can turn ugly. Shattered glass can skew a perfect view. Broken things are put on a to-do list to fix, or in some cases, thrown away. In time, fragile things break, if not protected and cared for.
In our soul guilt, shame or fear can be like broken glass. Division, fragmentation and hairline cracks – touch us all. We are all broken. The difference is, some give God their broken pieces, and some don’t. It is inevitable to be cut again and again, if we hold onto the glass.
Glass can be beautiful in the right setting:
John 6:12 – “….Gather the fragments…. Jesus wants our broken glass. He makes a Mosaic out of our shattered pieces. The stain of sin can be erased without a trace! God has a way of clearing our broken glass and creating a beautiful Mosaic.
- He declares us – New
- He declares us – His
- He declares us – Precious
- He declares us – Worthy
Light that leads to Life
Recently while washing dishes I broke a glass. Immediately I cleaned up all the debris I could find. Later on I found a shard far from the sink – light shown on it and exposed it. This can happen in life situations, through losses or gain, we may emerge seemingly untouched, but broken glass maybe hidden.
The Psalmist writes in Psalms 36:9 “In HIS light we see more light…” The Light of HIS presence exposes the hidden glass. This exposure leads to sharp questions that expose broken glass.
- Are we lying to ourselves by explaining away reality?
- Are we justifying ourselves ignoring the tug in our spirit?
- What is stealing our joy and causing over thinking ?
- Living in denial by doing the same things expecting another outcome ?
As we walking in the light of God’s Grace – Jesus will expose our pain. As His hand extends – surrender your heart, and all the broken pieces – He will make you whole again. Even though the past can never be changed, it doesn’t have to be a unresolved conflict today. God’s grace protects our delicate soul.
As things come to our attention – Jesus can cover and protects us from being cut again. The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 6:15 ” …our feet fitted and protected with the gospel of peace….“ Jesus trades our pieces, for His Peace.
Here are healthy questions to move forward into the light:
- What brings you pain? Let it go.
- What adds to your life? Draw near to it.
- What brings you closer to Jesus? Revolve around it.
- What stirs you to action? Feed it.
We are not our broken past. People have a wonderful memory of things that God has forgotten in Jeremiah 50:20. Dance on the dust of your past and embrace healing. Jesus Deeply Sees, Fully Knows and Completely Loves YOU! You are HIS Mosaic.
