…through the [Lord Jesus Christ] also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5.2
We put our home of 30 years on the market, for sale by owner, last September. We sensed it was the right time to take such a huge step. We began to downsize. We began to clean out closets and make numerous trips to the dump! Then winter settled in and we did with it. The cold, mountain winds whipped, the temperatures plummeted, the snow blew and finally when Spring arrived the moving bug bit. And, then the spring rains began and water was everywhere. Our spirits dampened but my hope soared. There were no postcards from heaven nor prophetic words – I just knew I had to exercise my faith, depend on God’s grace, and put feet to the hope I have learned to lean on. There was nothing else I could do.
Jesus and His 12 were in Capernaum – He was teaching in the synagogue, bearing His heart to those who were following Him. His very own people took great offense and told Him how hard these things were to hear. He continued telling them the Truth. He said, “the words I speak to you are spirit, and they are life,” John 6.63 It was just too much for many of His followers and they became deserters. Jesus said to His twelve, “Are you going to leave Me too?” Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” I think in his own way, Peter basically said, “Jesus, my faith is in You, I am going to count on Your grace, and I’m going to walk in Hope, hope in You.”
Father God, in Jesus’ Name, YOU are my true Treasure. Every day my faith grows bolder. Every day Your grace is sweeter. Every day the Hope You grant me gets more glorious and I delight in rejoicing in You. You, O God, make me brave and bold and strong and when I blow it? And, I do, Your grace is there to catch me. Your hope is there to hold me. I love You so. Amen.
