In the stillness of the night, I long to hear Your Words of truth. I think about You and the day that You were betrayed. I can only imagine a glimpse of the heart pain that You felt when the one You mentored, loved and chose – sabotaged You. O sovereign Lord, it was all planned and You could’ve stopped it, but You didn’t. You let Your plan play out because You thought about others. You thought about me.
I am in awe of what You reveal to me through Your Word. My heart hears Your Spirit tell me to follow You and follow Your perfect example when people deliberately hurt me. Your truth tells me, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32 ESV).
Lord, even though it is difficult and my anger takes hold, You stand in front me and gently take my hand. You remind me that You took Your betrayal along with all the other sins of the world and carried them on Your shoulders. You forgave our sins. And it is Your forgiveness, Your grace, that leads to eternal life with You.
Jesus, You show me that hurt of betrayal doesn’t come from those we don’t know, but from those we hold close to our hearts. You knew all of Your children would someday experience this kind of hurt. I am so thankful I follow You. So today I take Your hand and You give me Your Words to speak into the lives of others.
I Seek Truth is written in first person as if you were speaking to God.
