Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
Ephesians 1:3-4 (ESV)
Life isn’t easy. Often I can fall prey to the dailyness of life, see others, myself, and the world with smudged lenses.
That makes me vulnerable to every doubt and lie the enemy of my soul throws at me. It usually ends with the question:
“Who do you think you are?”
My answer can falter on too many days as I succumb to the doubt that creeps across my mind.
After all, who am I really?
Ah, yes, the enemy would want us to forget the key to the answer to the question he can whisper in our ears.
The truth is that God through Jesus Christ chooses me and He chose me before I knew or loved Him or even thought about serving Him. He chose me before the foundation of the world was laid.
That blows my mind after all these years. I also think it is the one thing the enemy would have me forget.
To be chosen and hear the “Yes” of God means He said “No” to Satan’s realm, to the second death, to utter darkness and pain. It means He has fashioned and purposed me for His Kingdom.
If I can hold onto that truth, it cuts through the dailyness of life with all its drudgery, discouragement, and doubt like the rays of the sun pierce through the thickest clouds.
Father God, Lord Jesus, thank you for choosing me before I ever took my first breath. Thank you for not only saving me through grace, but teaching me to live by grace each day. Help me to hold securely fast to the truth that I am chosen. I am the daughter of the King. How good you are! Thank you, Lord. Amen.
