I have been asked …
why I decided to write a book on prayer several times. First off, let me say that I never saw myself writing a book on prayer or a prayer guide. I had an idea for my blog while driving home from visiting family on Thanksgiving last year. The Lord put on my heart some specific things to encourage others to pray over and as I jotted them down I never expected that it would turn into a book. Yet, the Lord had other plans for them. He continued to open doors for me to turn the words He had put on my heart to come to life in a book. A book that I hope shows you the power of prayer over the 45 days that you spend reading it but also shows you what a Mighty God we serve.
Our plans are not always what we envision them to be when we look ahead. I have learned this first hand over the years. In the past, I would say that I prayed but I don’t think I really understood the power of my prayers until the Lord decided to show me. He used my son’s sickness (read more about it on the blog here) when He was born to bring me to my knees. It was through the toughest of years that I have ever walked that I had the most peace. Why? Because I knew that God was near. He was there in my moments of complete shock and fear. He was there in the darkest of hours but yet His light shone through those darkest nights. I saw Him answer some big requests and small ones, and yet even though I didn’t know the final outcome of Toby’s health, I trusted that God would be with us and that in the end His will would be done. I saw the power of my prayers first hand and it opened my eyes even more to the Glory and Splendor of our Great and Almighty God.
This is one of the reasons that I feel lead to write. I want those who read this book to understand the power of prayer. I want them to experience the power of God. I want them to see that their prayers are more than just words uttered but allow them to approach the throne of God and talk to Him. Praying enters us into a relationship with him and so often I think we forget this part. Just as you would talk to your best friend or that person you started a relationship with to help build the relationship, we also should want to have that relationship with our Father. He is the one who created us. He is the one who loved us so much, He sent His Son to die on our behalf. This is one of the reasons that we pray, to talk to God, to give thanks for all that He has given and done for us and so much more.
Do you find your prayer life to be in a rut? Then this book is perfect to get you out of it! Do you find it hard to be consistent in your prayer life? Again, this book is a great help. Do you find that your prayer life is growing and purposeful? Well, this book is great for that as well! 45 Days of Prayer is a prayer guide and journal book that walks you through 45 days of praying for specific topics. Each day is a new topic to pray over, with verses, and an area for you to write down your own prayer for that day. Great for those who also are looking to journal their prayers!
How is God encouraging you today?
