So, it’s September 23…and despite what you’ve read and heard, the world ISN’T going to end today!
There’s a reason Jesus’ first words to His disciples about the signs of the end of the age in Matthew 24:4 were:
“See to it that no one misleads you…”
We live in a time when there are few who actually preach from the Bible, and very few the one third of it that deals with prophecy.
Can I just share few things?
The rapture (catching away) of the Bride of Christ (Christians) can happen at any moment.
We’re clearly told in the Bible that no one knows the day or the hour of that event, yet every decade or so, we have people setting dates for the rapture, or the end of the world. Then, when their date comes and goes, mockers begin mocking.
September 23rd is not the end of the world, or the fulfillment of Revelation 12, which doesn’t happen until half way through the tribulation, and is about the nation of Israel.
As bad as things are, the tribulation will be much worse, and will only begin when Israel signs a peace deal for 7 years with the Antichrist. That event begins the seven year period of time when God will bring judgment on the earth described vividly in the book of Revelation. He has three purposes in that judgment:
To make an end of wickedness and wicked people.
“Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, cruel, with fury and burning anger, to make the land a desolation; and He will exterminate its sinners from it.” Isaiah 13:9
Does that sound harsh? Look at our world honestly and consider how long a holy and righteous God will wait to make an end of sin. God has waited patiently for people like you and me to repent and turn to Him, but the Bible is clear that there will be a time when His patience will end.
To bring about a world-wide revival.
Jesus said that the end of the age would come after the Gospel was preached to all of the nations. Revelation 7 clearly depicts that prophecy being fulfilled by 144,000 Jewish missionaries during the tribulation. Isn’t it like our mighty God to show mercy even in times of punishment? Those men will be the most effective evangelists the world has ever seen. Consider the results of their preaching the Gospel:
“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes…” Revelation 7:9
To bring about the national regeneration of Israel.
There are many prophecies throughout the Old Testament which talk about Israel repenting because the nation rejected their Messiah. The prophet Daniel was told that the nation’s power would be “shattered” during the Tribulation, while Ezekiel prophesied how that would happen.1 Repentance for rejecting Jesus the Messiah will occur, according to the prophet, Zechariah:
“And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.” Zechariah 12:9-10
That repentance of Israel will be the event that will trigger the return of Jesus Christ to this world. His first coming was accurately prophesied, more than 300 prophecies were perfectly fulfilled.
There are others foretold in the Bible about His second coming, one of them in stunning detail:
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.” Revelation 19:11-12
If you know Jesus, you don’t have to worry about the Tribulation and the end of the world. You won’t be here. The day will come for Jesus to gather His church up in heaven; He will come for His bride because she isn’t destined for God’s wrath. In fact, that event is meant to be a comfort for believers!
“After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18
God isn’t slow about keeping His promises, so wait and keep ready!
If you have never made a decision to put your faith in Jesus Christ, I hope you’ll consider doing that now. The world isn’t going to end today, but you don’t know when your life will end.
Today you have the opportunity to choose eternal life. Jesus said:
“I am the way, and the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father, except through Me.”
