Wilderness

“Therefore, behold, I will allure her, will bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfort to her.~ Hosea 2:14 (NKJV)

Wilderness. Wild, lonely, barren. Wilderness — those times when friends don’t call, the job is difficult or non-existent, provisions are scarce, the summers hot and the winters cold, the whole world doesn’t seem to care or hear our cries and God seems so far away.

Yet in the wilderness, the distractions are removed. The still small voice can be heard, and that which is most important becomes clear. We see the God who sees us. God’s glory, guidance, protection, and provision are found in the wilderness.

God allures us to the desert places to allow us to discover He is the only one who can fill our souls. God is the only One we need.

God is all we need.

Heavenly Father, thank You that our time in the wilderness is never wasted. Your plans and purposes are beyond our earthly reasoning, and Your ways are the best. Thank You for the times You draw us away so we can be drawn more deeply into Your heart.
