There’s a massive mountain standing in your way right now. Some bleak situation is creating doubt inside of you.
Is it the malignant cancer that doctors don’t have answers for? A faltering marriage which looks more war-torn than anything else? At the present time, a wayward child is lost, and your hope for reconciliation seems futile?
What’s your impossible? It seems even more unlikely to change this Christmas, doesn’t it?
The Miracle Maker
Christmas beckons us to believe in miracles and get our heart’s desires. With this in mind, we develop almost child-like tendencies, hoping that our desires and wishes will come true this Christmas… or at least, we’re hoping they do.
Our God is a master at the impossible. He excels at the very things we can’t understand.
Impossible in the Bible
The virgin birth… need I say more? How can we grasp it in our human minds?
Elizabeth and Zechariah conceiving well past their biological clocks without any IVF or surrogacy.
Mary’s acceptance of her conceived womb. If we put ourselves in her shoes, how would we accept divorce, stoning, and alienation by our family and friends?
Yet, Mary answered, “I am the Lord’s servant. Let everything you’ve said happen to me.” Luke 1:38 GW
More unbelievable is Joseph’s ability to love Mary unconditionally in spite of the new baby in her womb which wasn’t his. Humanly speaking, it is highly unlikely to not let the mind wander and conjure up other ideas; however, Joseph took Mary home as his wife.
The Tip of the Iceberg
It’s important to realize that I’ve only focused on the tip of the iceberg regarding how God has done the implausible, impossible, improbable, inconceivable, and incredible in the Bible.
Here’s the thing… God doesn’t work in our view of possibility, but His view of the impossible.
Romans 8:28 (NLT)
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Was it too impossible for God when the cancer isn’t healed, the marriage falls apart, and the depression doesn’t lift?
Could we shift our own perspectives and begin to look at the possibilities which God may be unfolding?
The Miracle You are Waiting For
We want the healing, the solid marriage, and the abolition of the depression; but, could God be doing deeper soul work? The healing might come in family unity, surrender to God, joy, grace, mercy, courage, and faith.
Gifts we weren’t originally seeking, but those we are graced with instead.
Here’s the thing… God’s ultimate healing holds unending possibilities.
This Christmas is the beginning of miracles. Healing from God is multi-faceted, and He knows what we need best. Pray we accept His ways and lean into what He is doing!
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
