Our Merciful Way – A December 2016 LifeLine

Jesus answered,
“I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.
From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

John 14:6-7

What a merciful God we have!

While we were separated from God by sin (Genesis 3), God made a way for us to get back to Him.
It was not a way we could accomplish on our own, no matter how hard we might try.

There is One way, and only One way to God,
and God Himself provided the Way—through His Son, Jesus.

Salvation does not come through the law, sacrifices or religious beliefs.
Not by the traditions we follow, how often we go to church, or how perfectly we try to act.

Salvation comes through Jesus Christ, crucified and risen from the grave.

While we were still sinners, God gave us the way back to Himself.
The Way only He could provide.
The Way, filled with love and compassion for His sinful children.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

God didn’t say, “Here’s what you must do to find your way back to me.”
No, instead, He said, “Here’s what I’ve done so we can be together again.”

What a truly merciful God we have!

It is Christmas …

when we are reminded that the Gift of Mercy not only came when least expected,
but looks us in the eye and says, “I came for you”.

Soak that truth in this December
and have yourself a very “mercy” Christmas!
