She strives to bring spiritual breakthrough and victory for every parent, grandparent, and individual entrusted with a special needs child.
Jen is a mother of two, pastor’s wife, worship leader, and writer. She serves faithfully in the local church and has committed herself to the call of God on her life. As an Oral Roberts University graduate with a degree in Elementary Education, her experience in the classroom, among young families, and in ministry has given her both the experience and education that enables her to effectively communicate a meaningful and life-giving message. Jen longs for others to embrace the calling to parent their child specifically gifted to them, and fulfill that calling with faith and total reliance on God and His Word.
Chosen and Gifted:
When Jen and her husband, Lucas, began to plan their family years ago, she never imagined having a child with Down Syndrome. Though doctors had initial concerns during her pregnancy, she refused testing, believing that regardless of the diagnosis, God was in control. A beautiful baby girl was born, and later the doctor’s suspicions were confirmed. Charlotte, her sweet baby Charlie girl, had Trisomy 21.
When the feared became a reality, she turned to God, seeking for answers and desperate for something to hold onto. Then God spoke,
“I chose you to be her mom.”
In a moment, the healing began. Fear and heaviness was replaced with joy and privilege. Jen received this word from the Lord and hasn’t turned back. Once embracing her calling that she was chosen for Charlie, Jen has found healing, inspiration, and power through the word of God in every season.
Rising Up and Speaking Out:
It is now her burden and honor to share this message with other mothers, parents, grandparents, and anyone who has been chosen to love and care for a special-needs child. While experiencing true victory and breakthrough, she has chosen to rise up and speak out. No matter the severity or settlety of the diagnosis, Jen wants to bring hope and strength to others as she shares from her personal journey as a young mother, and the power of God’s word and how it applies to every parent who finds themselves on a similar journey.
