Believers are living life like the world

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11

I believe all Believers experience rough times in living their life as a Christian. When these rough times occur, Believers begin to look for a quick fix, because that is the philosophy of this world. We look for a drug to ease the pain. We try to find some comforting words in a devotional or even the Bible. We expect others around us to understand that we are not operating on all cylinders of our beliefs. We begin to believe that we are alone on these feelings. When that happens, we can truly believe that God has deserted us or wants us to go through some kind of growing pain without Him.

Let me make this as clear as possible. Christians are not to look to the world for spiritual healing and growth. When your thoughts turn internal you will be messing up God’s answer to your problems. What I do find are the verses above. Instead of living life using worldly activities, God wants to remind us that the heart of living a Christian life is all about love. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30)  “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)

The basis of any and all activity as a Believer must always start with love, and continue to increase in love constantly and continually. The reason God puts love as first in your life is that Christ died on the cross for your sins – love! If you will always think of love first, your spiritual insight will grow in depth and in knowledge. You will have a spiritual insight that sees things as God sees them.

I repeat that most Believers choose the worldly philosophy to try to get back to feeling good or feeling that they are back in control. This is WRONG! It is LOVE! You don’t pray; you don’t read the Bible; you don’t meet with your Pastor or others; you do not do anything unless you put love first. This will help you to discern what is the best way for you to live your Christian life. You will grow to be blameless because your focus will be on God’s love and the love of Christ. Unconditional love must come first in your life at all times and in all circumstances.

I cannot emphasize enough that what non-believers see in the lives of Believers is the same as the world’s. They do not see unconditional love. They do not see a Believer offering glory and praise to God through their reaction to worldly problems. In the verses above, God is clearly telling us to think of His love first in ALL THAT WE DO! A change in attitude is needed by Believers today for the gospel of Christ to be spread throughout the world. “To the glory and praise of God.”
