“Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.” ~ Psalm 103:13-14 (NASB)
My husband adjusted the super-sized ladder to the highest setting, then handed our super-tall son the extendable duster. His assignment? Clean the tallest ledge inside our home.
Dust bunnies cowered as our son climbed to the top of the ladder, stretched his long, lean arms, and annihilated any and all hidden dust creatures. Every ledge, shelf, cabinet top, nook and cranny, succumbed to the Bunny Bustin’ Buffaloes.
Cleaning is never-ending. How can one small Buffaloe herd make so many messes, and where does all that dust come from? I’m still waiting for the invention of the wash-and-wear house.
I must admit, I have personal dust problems. I’ve wallowed in my share of slimy sin pits, and I can’t even claim ignorance. I knew better. Unfortunately, sin doesn’t always appear “that” dirty and often looks appealing. However, one step in the sin, and the sin rolls along like small dust particles, collecting other sins, until the grimy soul dust bunnies invade every crevice. More than a duster is needed to remove that kind of dirt and grime.
Fortunately, our sins can be washed through the forgiveness, grace, and mercy of Jesus Christ. And when Jesus sweeps into our lives, He dusts us off, and busts away sin’s filth.
Thank You Heavenly Father, for Your amazing love and compassion that reaches out to messy humanity and offers a way for redemption. Thank You Jesus, that sin’s dust bunnies are forever blown away by Your thorough soul cleansing.
