the Café thought you just might want to know how an Encouragement Leader like Suzie Eller
has herself been encouraged in her own faith recently.
In her own words…
Lately I’ve sensed God leading us to new depths in Him.
We need that. I need that. Our world is changing, but we are not powerless.
I am praying for those who are suffering for His name’s sake.
I’m praying for us — as believers — that we’ll hold fast to the truth
that suffering and trials refine us and draw us closer to Him.
That there’s joy in calling ourselves His.

We sat around the kitchen table …
my weekly Bible study friends and I, digging deep into the Word. We decided last spring to put aside books and to dig into the book. Most of the women around the table grew up knowing there was a God, but not necessarily understanding what that meant. Some were under the authority of scripture, but it had been twisted and left them feeling apprehensive. Others believed that the words in the Bible meant that God was sorely disappointed in them.
As we began our study, I prayed that it would come alive for each of us.
One night we studied this passage:
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
– Acts 4:31 –
It meant that the power of God was so strong that it shook the room in which they stood, but more so it shook these followers of Jesus. It took ordinary people and put their feet on a path they’d never anticipated. It launched people into cities and highways – though persecution was all around them – and they couldn’t help but share the name of Jesus with those they encountered.
It shook their view of faith from tradition and rules to a deep, intimate longing to know Jesus, hear His teachings, and live them out.
“Can God shake me?” she replied.
Yes, yes, yes!
It’s been a year now …
of simply studying the Word. Just the other day one of my friends attended church on a Sunday morning. We sat together and as the pastor preached, she whispered, “He’s a lot better than he used to be, Suzie.”
I smiled, knowing that the pastor hadn’t changed. He’d always been a great teacher, but the Word was now alive in my friend. She had grown in her understanding and now those words offered insight and hope.
Why? Because she had been shaken.
Just last night, women in our study shared that they were waking up in the night and simply talking to God. Others told about a verse that spoke to them at just the right time.
Shaken, shaken, shaken …
Maybe you’ve studied the Bible for years, but it just doesn’t translate from the page to your heart. Maybe it feels like a chore. Perhaps you read scripture and then five minutes later, you’re not even sure of what you read.
In January I will host a 30-day study titled, “30 Days of Life Shaking Study in the Word.” Of course it’s free, and I’d be honored for you to join me as we study together. We’ll do exactly what we’ve been doing each week around my kitchen table – discovering the power within the book and exploring how that changes us forever.
I love nothing more than watching the Word take root in a heart and showing up in beautiful and surprising ways.
Will you join me?
