The best Sunday of the year is in the rear view mirror . . . I love celebrating Christ’s resurrection, but Monday-next comes so quickly and all the ordinary desires to “run our life, forward our careers, grow our families, manage our churches” . . . and somewhere find the time . . . to fit God in. Our religion can quickly become hollow . . . an oxymoron message to others.
But the risen Christ invites us to relentlessly seek Him . . . to show our families, friends and colleagues that we are first and foremost desperate for His presence . . . and trust Him to provide all the other “stuff” of life. People can tell when you have been preparing dinner for hours on a wood smoker and similarly, when you have been feasting first on God’s Word and presence. From Matthew 6 and II Corinthians 2 we read,
“Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you . . . thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere.”
There is an unmistakable pleasing life-giving resurrection aroma when we have earnestly been with Him, an aroma that removes contradiction in our “witness” . . . an aroma that confirms well-placed trust in Him alone.
This is David “JB” Miller reminding you that the One who destroyed everything that destroys us . . . is risen and wants to be alive in You! When you move past remembrances of His Gospel . . . and by grace become in Him the gospel . . . His resurrection power will explode through you, bringing new life to others . . . simply because you did away with . . .
. . . oxymoron religion.
